Het collectief Hirs uit Philadelphia ontketent met Second 100 Songs een nietsontziende storm van geluid. Verdeeld over maar liefst 101 tracks, ramt de band er in hoog tempo een salvo van ultra-korte uitbarstingen doorheen. Dit album bundelt eerder uitgebracht materiaal, EP's en een groot aantal covers op één LP. De muziek is een frontale aanval op de zintuigen, gedreven door een diepgewortelde woede en een compromisloze politieke boodschap. Hirs gebruikt hun muziek als een krachtig en solidair statement voor de queer- en transgemeenschap.
De muziek bevindt zich op het snijvlak van grindcore en powerviolence, gekenmerkt door razendsnelle blastbeats en chaotische songstructuren. De aanpak doet denken aan de compromisloze energie van acts als Spazz en Napalm Death, wiens werk ook wordt gecoverd op dit album. Het is een intense en confronterende luisterervaring die geen moment rust gunt.
